Christmas Joy Offering

December 15th, 2016  |  by westminster

Christmas Joy offering will be collected on December 11 & 18. The Christmas Joy Offering supports current and retired church workers in challenging times of financial need, as well as leadership and diversity through its support of Presbyterian related racial ethnic schools and universities.

Please make checks out to Westminster Presbyterian and note Christmas Joy Offering in the memo.

As the new year approaches and we reflect on 2016 and make preparations for 2017, the Christmas Joy Offering gives us a unique way to illustrate the value we place on both the old and the new.

The Christmas Joy Offering supports the Board of Pensions, providing current and retired church workers in their time of need, helping them to surmount financial obstacles.

(For more on the assistance program of the Board of Pensions, see http://www.pensions.org/PlansAndPrograms/AssistanceProgram/Pages/default.aspx)

For example, in 2015 the Board of Pensions gave $2.2 million in income supplements helping nearly 300 households and $1.3 million housing supplements, which helped more than 200 households.  Additionally, over 100 households received emergency assistance with over a quarter of a million dollars.

The Christmas Joy Offering also supports education and leadership development through the establishment and support of Presbyterian related racial ethnic schools.

(For more on the Presbyterian related racial ethnic schools see https://www.presbyterianmission.org/ministries/racial-ethnic-and-womens-ministries/racial-ethnic-leadership-development/racial-ethnic-schools-and-colleges/)

During this time of giving and reflection, the Christmas Joy Offering gives us an opportunity to give back to the church leaders who have faithfully guided us as well as supporting leadership and diversity in our future generations.
