Summer Mission Trip for Youth

The Center in Baltimore, MD
This summer, WPC youth will travel to Baltimore, MD for a week of service at The Center, a ministry of the Presbytery of Baltimore. The Center strives to connect volunteers to churches already partnering with their neighborhoods. We will learn about the causes of poverty in Baltimore – and other American cities – and work alongside a church that feeds its neighbors by running an urban farm. We will also take a day trip to Washington, DC to visit the PC(USA)’s Office of Public Witness and learn how to advocate for systemic change. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the city of Baltimore, too! We’ll bring what we learn at The Center back to Austin and apply it to our mission work as a Youth Fellowship and as a congregation.
Who’s invited? Current 6th – 12th graders, plus 3-4 adult sponsors.
How much does it cost? $300/person + airfare. Full and partial scholarships available. We may also do some group fundraising in the spring.
