Jack Martin began serving in the position of Organist at Westminster Presbyterian Church in September 2018. He comes to this position after serving as Organist for Presbyterian, United Methodist, Lutheran and Roman Catholic churches in Austin, San Marcos, Del Rio, Midland, and Beaumont, Texas. Mr. Martin studied at the University of Texas at Austin and Lamar University in Beaumont, and received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music.
In the summer of 2016, while serving St. Theresa Catholic Church in Austin he accompanied the choir on a pilgrimage to Budapest, Vienna, Assisi, and Rome. Mr. Martin accompanied masses and concerts at St. Matthias Church, Budapest, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, and the Basilica of St. Ignatius in Rome. He also accompanied masses in St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City, at the Altar of the Chair of St. Peter and the Altar of St. Joseph..
Since 1982, Jack has been a member of the Austin Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, where he has served as Dean and is currently Sub-Dean. He chaired the planning committee of the 1991 and 2013 A.G.O. regional conventions.
