2024 W.O.W. Retreat

Women of Westminster, join us for our annual women’s retreat, February 23-25, 2024 at Camp Capers outside Comfort, TX!
This year’s speaker: Mary Marcotte
Theme: The Myth of Superwoman as an Enemy of Grace
Register Here!

No, this retreat is not focused on some theoretical culture war between the church and DC Comics. 🙂 Instead, we will examine how at every age striving to be it all, do it all, and have it all as women collides with our full acceptance of the gift of grace, already bestowed upon us as beloved children of God.

Together we will examine the pressures to be all that you can be… even to the point of self-destructive choices. Together we will laugh at our silliness and develop strategies that allow each of us to fully live into the grace that is already ours. We will leave with resolutions for remaining true to our inner selves, making space for spiritual growth and maturity.

About our presenter:
Mary Marcotte is a retired Certified Christian Educator who is sought after as a workshop and retreat leader on the local, regional, and national level. After graduating from Rice University with double majors in English and history, Mary taught at Houston’s High School for Performing and Visual Arts. Part of a cusp generation of women that was raised to stay home and then educated not to, Mary opted to “retire” following the birth of her first child. She then carried on her love for teaching into church volunteer work that gradually became a career. She served as a professional educator for churches in Texas and northern Virginia before election as Associate General Presbyter in New Covenant Presbytery. In 2023 Mary was honored to receive the “Sustain” award for lifetime achievement by the Association of Partners in Christian Education.

Mary lives in Dallas with her high school sweetheart and husband of 51 years, Mike. They have two grown children (Matt and Meg) and two amazing grandsons (Linus and Arlo).
